What people are saying about us...
Highly recommend 😄
We don’t usually do tours but this was such an amazing experience, it’s changed our minds. Would 100% try and join Kathryn’s tours next time we’re in Prague.

Great tour and fantastic city!

Both of our guides were really knowledgeable and entertaining, and we found out lots of things about the Czech Republic that we didn't know.
A highlight of Ian's tour was the astrological clock, and the history of Charles IV.
With Mike, we caught a tram (it's easy to do in Prague), saw the changing of the guard at Prague Castle, and had an interactive experience in the gardens.
We would definitely choose Prague Pulse tours first if we returned to Prague in the future.

Mingchen from London

Tour 1: Prague's Iconic Free Tour – Old Town & Jewish Quarter (with Dylan)
The tour started at 10:30 a.m. – despite the large, international group, you never felt anonymous. Thanks to a short round of introductions, a personal atmosphere was created right from the start.
Our guide Dylan was a real highlight: humorous, historically well-informed and with a wonderfully ironic manner. The tour was full of exciting anecdotes and little stories – not a dull moment!
Tour 2: Classic Prague Castle Tour – Strahov Monastery & Castle District (with Jeremy)
This tour also started at 10:30 a.m. – again with a large group, but once more with a personal introduction.
Jeremy was the perfect storyteller: charming, knowledgeable and with great timing. He even got us to the castle in time for the changing of the guard at 12 noon! The tour lasted over three hours and was exciting and entertaining throughout – including lots of practical tips and background information.
Conclusion: If you really want to experience Prague, Prague Pulse Tours is the best choice. Highly recommended – I would book again anytime!
I would highly recommend this walking tour for any tourist who wants to visit Prague.
He made it so worthwhile and was full of energy and enthusiasm for our group.
I would like to say we immensely enjoyed the tour although the weather was cold.
Ian is a very wonderful tour guide and we wanted to say thanks again to him.
Warm regards
Michelle from Glasgow Scotland 🏴

The tour overall was informative, well structured and interesting. The Old Town tour took about 2.5 hrs incl. a short break. Thanks
Highest recommendation! Great city to visit and a great walking tour experience!

I would highly recommend you spare the time for a tour.
Mel took us through the Jewish Quarter, Old Town, and New Town, weaving history, humor, and fascinating insights into every stop. Her storytelling makes the past come alive, and her recommendations (for food, sights, and hidden gems) were absolutely spot-on. Plus, she has a super handy Prague website full of tips, so you’re never left wondering where to go next.
And of course, no tour with Mel would be complete without hearing her favorite saying:
"Prague never lets you go… this dear little mother has sharp claws." – Franz Kafka
By the end of the tour, we felt those "sharp claws" pulling us in too!
Whether it’s your first time in Prague or your tenth, Mel is the guide you want. She doesn’t just show you the city—she makes you feel like you belong here. Highly recommend!

Mike is a highly energetic guide and a very good storyteller. I saw the final minutes of another tour he gave the other day and decided to join his next tour the other day officially and did not regret it.

Highly recommend!

Mel was very impressive of the flow of information and stories she was telling throughout the tour! Definitely recommend 👌🏻

FAQs about our Iconic Free Tour of Old Town
There is no compulsory payment upfront for a free tour. At the end of the tour, your guide asks you to place a value on your experience, and you get to decide what you think is a fair price. This ensures your guide will always give you the best tour possible.
You can pay with card! We also accept Czech Crowns and Euros (although we ask you to refrain from Euro coins as we cannot exchange them).
Our tours run in rain, wind, or shine. Please do come in adequate clothing, the tours are outside, and Prague can be very cold in winter and very hot in summer!
*In exceptionally extreme weather, we will let you know if the tour is cancelled.
Although you can technically see Prague Castle from many points on this tour, we do not go to the castle itself. This is the largest castle complex in the world, so it deserves the time and attention of its own tour!
(Check out our Castle Tour)
The free walking tour concept is designed for small group bookings. For the sake of our guides, we ask groups of 9+ to either book a private tour or to join our free tour with an upfront payment. This payment can be viewed as the minimum spend to pay the guide.
These rules are in place with all free tour companies.
Yes, everyone is welcome on the tours. Please be aware that Old Town’s cobbled streets are not the easiest for wheelchair users, but our guides will always help you where necessary.
Our guides will always remain at the meeting point for 5 minutes after the start time. After this, each guide takes a slightly different route and are not contactable during the tour. For this reason, we ask you to be at the meeting point on time or to please reschedule your tour for another time slot.
No, the synagogues are part of the Jewish Museum, a paid area we cannot enter during the tour. If you want to visit, we are happy to explain how to get a ticket for after the tour.
Why is an Old Town tour the best way to start your trip?
Much of Prague’s Old Town is pedestrianized, which is why you can see up close many things on foot that would be missed on a bus, bike, car, or boat tour.
This area is also the epicenter of Prague’s ancient history. On our Old Town tour, we cover what the city has seen throughout the ages. Learn about the famous kings that ruled, what Prague was like during times of war and prosperity, and even how to read the Astronomical Clock!
What is included in an Old Town Tour of Prague?
Let us talk you through where we go. Bear in mind that every tour guide has their own route, so your walk may very, but the same spots are hit every time. A bit more about what Prague’s Old Town tour includes:
- Wenceslas Square
Our tour always starts by bringing you to one of the biggest and most stunning spots, to introduce how Prague became the city it is today. - Old Town Square
As the Týn Church looks over you, we’ll stand in the middle of the square for a 360 view of one of the most famous and photographed squares in the world. We’ll also, of course, tell you some monumental events that took place on the very spot where you stand.
Top tip: During Christmas and Easter, this is when the square becomes a literal marketplace again, so we’ll keep you a little distance from the crowds! - Astronomical Clock
Thousands of people see the clock everyday, but few of them ever learn of its significance or how to tell the time! People who live in the city tell us they never knew how to read the astronomical clock until they came on our Prague Old Town tour. - Jewish Quarter
Once a poor, segregated area, and now home to Prague’s most expensive real estate. The architectural beauty of this area is almost as astounding as its past. - Charles Bridge
Pulse’s Prague Old Town tour comes to an end at perhaps Prague’s most famous landmark. The bridge across which thousands of feet cross daily. Although we don’t go onto the bridge, we tell you of its maker and its making, as well as tips for best times to cross for a good photo opportunity.
Of course, there’s a lot more, but as storytellers we prefer to tell you face to face 😉
What route does the Prague Old Town tour take?
Prague Pulse’s meeting point for this Old Town free walking tour is very close to Wenceslas Square, where your enthralling history lesson/sightseeing begins.
Your guide will then take you through different streets of the Old Town – some of the most trodden paths and other small hidden gems of alleys to escape the masses. On the first half of the tour you’ll see the Astronomical Clock and Old Town Square. There will be a 15-minute break near our favourite coffee spot (also important for bathrooms and snacks!). The second half of the tour takes you further north to the Jewish Quarter, with a few cultural stops along the way. Then the tour makes its final stops along the picturesque river, where you’ll get a panoramic view of Prague Castle and Charles Bridge.
As our most popular tour, we have a lot of guides who run it and each of them comes with their own style and direction. And by direction, we mean literally! All of our guides hit the same spots, some of them just switch up the order – so, take the above route as a rough example.
How long is the Prague Old Town tour?
Our Prague Old Town tour runs for 2.5 hours, which includes a break for refreshments and bathrooms.
- Prague Pulse Iconic Free Tour runs three times a day: 10.30 am, 12 pm, 2 pm.
