FAQs

General Prague Walking Tour FAQs

1

How do free tours work?

There is no compulsory upfront payment for free tours. At the end of the tour, your guide asks you to value your experience, and you decide what you think is a fair price. This ensures your guide will always give you the best walking tour possible.

2

What forms of payment do we accept?

You can pay with card or cash! We accept Czech crowns and Euros (although we ask you to refrain from Euro coins, as we cannot exchange them).

3

How long is each tour?

Each free tour lasts roughly 2.5 hours. There is a break for coffee, snacks, and to use the bathroom. This means that many people can fit two history tours into one day or schedule something else for the other half of the day before or after their tour.

4

Will the weather affect the tour?

Our Prague free walking tours run in rain, wind, or shine. Please do come in adequate clothing, the tours are outside, and Prague can be very cold in winter and very hot in summer!

*If we have to cancel a tour in very exceptional extreme weather, we will let you know.

5

Are strollers, wheelchairs, or pets allowed on the free tour?

Yes, everyone is welcome on our Prague free walking tours! Prague is not the easiest city for wheelchair users, but our guides will always help you where necessary.

6

Is the meeting point central?

Our meeting point for the Iconic Free Tour is on the main shopping street called Na Přikopé, next to the Zara – this is a few minutes walking from both Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. Our meeting point for the Free Prague Castle Tour is on Jan Palach Square, next to the Josef Manes statue. Find us under the purple umbrellas!

7

Can we join the free tour after the start time?

Our guides will always remain at the meeting point for 5 minutes after the start time. After this, each guide takes a slightly different route and is not contactable during the tour. For this reason, we ask you to be at the meeting point on time or to please reschedule your Prague free walking tour for another time slot.

8

Why am I being charged for a free tour when booking a group of 9+?

Free walking tours are a concept designed for small group bookings. For the sake of our guides, we ask groups of 9+ to either book a private tour or join our free tour with an upfront payment. This payment can be viewed as the minimum spend to pay the guide. These rules are in place with all companies that run free tours.

9

Can you see Prague Castle on the free tour?

Yes! Prague Pulse runs two types of free tours: one focuses on the history of Prague Old Town and Jewish Quarter and the other on the history of Prague Castle. The Old Town tour runs at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. every day, and the free tour of the castle runs at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. every day.

10

Which is the best tour to do on the first day?

The Iconic Free Tour of Prague is the one which covers all of the major landmarks of the city – from Old Town Square to the famous synagogues of the Jewish Quarter – and key moments in the city’s history. However, the Prague Castle and its history are important enough to warrant its own tour. The Prague Castle sits atop a hill overlooking the Old Town. For the ideal experience, we recommend you take the Iconic Free Tour on your first day and then follow up with the Prague Castle tour in the afternoon or the following day.

Old Town Tour

No, the synagogues are part of the Jewish Museum, a paid area we cannot enter during the tour. If you want to visit, we are happy to explain how to get a ticket for after the tour.

Although you can technically see Prague Castle from many points on this tour, we do not go to the castle itself. This is the largest castle complex in the world, so it deserves the time and attention of its own tour!

Castle Tour

Yes, controllers often check tickets on trams. Don’t worry – tickets are very affordable, and we will help you purchase.

You can get the ticket from the app PID Litacka or at any metro station. For this trip, you only need a 30-minute ticket. If you cannot buy a ticket prior to the tour, please come to the meeting point early so the guide can explain it to you in person.

Yes, we will walk through the Prague Castle! You do not need to buy a ticket to access the castle complex.

The only buildings you need to pay for are the museums. The tour finishes close to these, so you can easily return and visit them afterwards.

Yes, everyone is welcome on the tours. For this tour, however, you will need to bring a muzzle for your dog, and you cannot enter the gardens or the cathedral. Don’t worry, you can still come on the tour, but you and your furry friend will just have to miss a couple of stops!

Prague is not the easiest city for wheelchair users, but our guides will always help you where necessary.

No, the areas we cover are free of charge. The only ticket you require for this tour is the public transport ticket.

This is currently under construction for the foreseeable future.

We usually do enter the first half of the cathedral (which is open to the public). However, this monument is sometimes closed to the public due to construction or ceremonies.
